Anura proposed for the post of Chief Opposition Whip

The name of JVP Leader and Colombo District MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake has been proposed for the post of Chief Opposition Whip, a source said.

However, Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has not officially made any announcement on the matter.

Earlier today, the Speaker named TNA Parliamentary Group Leader R. Sampanthan as the Leader of the Opposition.

MP Lakshman Kiriella was recently elected as the Leader of the House, Gayantha Karunathilaka was elected Chief Government Whip, and MP S. Adaikalanathan was elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee.
