The power supply will be fully restored island-wide by 6 p.m today, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said.

The power supply to certain areas have already been restored.  CEB chairman Anura Wijeyapala stated that the prevailing inclement weather condition is suspected to have caused the outage and that the CEB has commenced restoration of power.

Meanwhile Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has instructed relevant authorities to conduct a special inquiry regarding the sudden power outage and submit a report at the earliest.
