Police likely to record statement from G. L. Peiris

Former Minister G. L. Peiris will be questioned with respect to the investigation on the recovery of a suicide jacket and explosives that found inside a house in Chawakatchcheri, Defence Secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi said today (31).


Investigators will focus on claims by the former Minister that the explosives were to be brought to Wellawatte for a high profile attack.


The Government does not see it as an easy task on the steps taken to strengthen the National Security and we are capable of protecting the country, Defence Secretary added.
