Cop arrested for hiding evidence in Thajudeen murder case

Former Crime OIC of the Narahenpita police Sumith Perera was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly hiding evidence in the murder of Wasim Thajudeen, the police Spokesperson said.


Spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekara told Ada Derana that the suspect was arrested by a team attached to the CID a short while ago on Wednesday (20) afternoon.


Earlier, Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris instructed the CID to expedite investigations into the death of the Sri Lankan rugby player.


Thajudeen was found dead on May 17, 2012 inside his car which appeared to have crashed into a wall in Kirulapone.
