In what appears to be a major twist in the murder case of national Rugby player Wasim Thajudeen, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake on the charge of allegedly withholding evidences.

The former Senior DIG was summoned to the CID to record a statement regarding the murder case this morning (23).

The CID officials interrogated Anura Senanayake for few hours before the arrest was made, it was reported.

Earlier, former Crime OIC of the Narahenpita police Sumith Perera was arrested for allegedly hiding evidence in the case as well.

The Colombo Additional Magistrate had too instructed the CID to expedite investigations into the death of the Sri Lankan rugby player, whose body was found on May 17, 2012 inside his car which appeared to have crashed into a wall in Kirulapone.
