Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma, who attempted to commit suicide at a school in Mathugama, has been hospitalised, Ada Derana reporter said.
Palitha Thewarapperuma threatened to commit suicide if there is no response to his demand within the day. The Deputy Minister is currently receiving treatments at the Nagoda hospital.
He also staged a protest fast and threatened to leave the Government urging the enrolment of ten students whose admissions were denied by the school.
Thewarapperuma and several others launched the protest fast due to authorities failing to respond to their demands on 27 June. The protest fast continued as the Deputy Minister accused the Western Province Education Minister and the Mathugama Zonal Education Director of ignoring the issue.
Thewarapperuma said if all else fails he would ask even former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to resolve the matter.
