Five policemen arrested over death of 2 Uni students

Five policemen have been arrested on suspicion and interdicted following the death of two university students while traveling on a motorcycle, according to the Government Information Department.

The statement said that postmortem examinations into the deaths are ongoing and that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has immediately launched an investigation.

Earlier today it was reported that two university students were killed in an accident which occurred in the Kokkuwil area in Jaffna and that the victims were on their way home on a motorcycle after attending a party last night (20).

It was reported that one student had died on the spot while the other student succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the Jaffna Hospital.

The victims, aged 23 and 24, are said to be third year students in the Arts Faculty of the University of Jaffna and are residents of Jaffna and Kilinochchi.
