Prison guard in charge of Negombo Prison’s canteen interdicted

The prison guard in charge of the canteen at the Negombo Prison has been interdicted in connection with the incident of proving a mobile phone and SIM card to an inmate of the prison.
 
Commissioner of Prisons (Administration) Chandana Ekanayake stated that the prison guard in question has been handed over to police for further investigations. 

On June 21, two prison guards attached to the Matara and Mahara Prisons were also interdicted and been handed over to the Police for providing mobile phones to inmates imprisoned for drug-related charges.
