S.C. Muthukumarana appointed to fill MP seat vacated by Premarathne

The Election Commission has informed that S.C. Muthukumarana of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) was appointed to fill the MP seat left vacant due to the resignation of Uddika Premarathne.
The Secretary General of the Parliament, Mrs. Kushani Rohanadeera had informed the Chairman of the Election Commission in writing that the Member of Parliament representing the Anuradhapura Constituency Uddika Premarathne has tendered his letter of resignation as a Member of Parliament and thus a vacancy has been created following the resignation.
On Tuesday (27), the SLPP parliamentarian handed over the letter of resignation to the Deputy General Secretary of Parliament Mr. Chaminda Kularatne, for reasons yet to be made public.
In 2020, the popular actor was announced as a candidate for the 2020 parliamentary election from the Anuradhapura District as a member of the Sri Lanka People’s Freedom Alliance, a political alliance led by the SLPP formed in 2019.
Mutukumarana was next in line on the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) list for the Anuradhapura District.
