The Minuwangoda Magitsrate was today informed that DNA samples found on Seya Sadewmi does not match Dunesh Priyashantha alias ‘Kondeya’ who was arrested in connection with the murder and sexual assault on the child in Kotadeniyawa.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has submitted the report of the Genetech Research Institute regarding the DNA tests to the Minuwangoda Chief Magistrate this morning.

Magistrate D.A. Ruwanpathirana inquired from the CID officers regarding the progress of the investigations and then announced the findings of the said report.

Based on the report, the DNA samples found on the murdered child do not belong to Kondaya, the suspect who had previously confessed to the murder.

However, the elder brother of Kondaya who was arrested in connection with the case was brought to the Genetech Molecular Diagnostics Research Institute (GMDRI) in Colombo for a DNA test yesterday (06).

The CID earlier apprised the Court that the elder brother of Kondaya has confessed to the murder. The suspect was arrested on October 3.

Seya Sadewmi was found strangled to death on September 13 while she was reported missing from her home at Kotadeniyawa in Divulapitiya on the previous day.
