The Matale Magistrate’s Court today (11) directed the Prison Authorities to refer former UPFA Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon for a Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) to obtain a report concerning his medical condition, Ada Derana Court reporter says.

The order was issued when the case in which the former Minister is suspected in the murder of an individual in 1999 was taken up for hearing before Magistrate Sampath Gamage.

Magistrate Gamage also further remanded Janaka Bandara Tennakoon till November 24, reporter added.

Tennakoon was arrested at a private hospital in Colombo on October 6 as he failed to arrive at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to give a statement despite being notified.

Tennakoon had been instructed to give the statement regarding the shooting incident occurred in Dambulgamuwa area in Matale which resulted in the death of one person and wounded another.
