Former Narahenpita OIC released on bail

The former officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Narahenpita Police Station who was arrested and remanded in connection an alleged bribery case has been released on bail. 

Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered that he be released on a cash bail of Rs 15,000 and two personal bails of Rs 1million each, Ada Derana reporter said.

Chief Inspector M.G.U.D. Gunathilake was arrested by the Bribery Commission on December 04, a week after the Crimes OIC of the Narahenpita Police Station was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 2.5 million.
 
The Crimes OIC had allegedly requested for the bribe from a doctor in order to refrain from lodging a case against the latter regarding a certain transgression.

The Narahenpita OIC was arrested in connection with the same bribery incident. 
 
On December 02, Chief Inspector Gunathilake was transferred from Narahenpita to the Ampara Police Headquarters for normal duty.
