Labour officers end strike action

September 27, 2016   07:06 pm

The Public Service Labour Officers’ Union has decided to temporarily suspend the strike action launched by labour officers.

President of the Union I.C. Gamage said that the decision was taken in view of the Labour Minister submitting a cabinet paper for a service constitution to the Cabinet of Ministers.

Labour Minister W.D.J. Senewiratne had presented the relevant cabinet paper today while it is slated to be debated by the cabinet on October 4.

The Public Service Labour Officers Union had been engaged in a strike since September 07 based on several demands including a Service Constitution.
