Debagama Priyantha and 3 others sentenced to 15 years

The Kegalle Provincial High Court today sentenced four persons including the former Vice Chairman of the Dehiowita Pradehsiya Sabha, Priyantha Udayakumara alias ‘Debagama Priyantha’ to 15 years in prison and fined each of them Rs 10,000.

They were found guilty of stealing a lorry and a large sum of cash in Napawala, Yatiyantota on January 04, 2004 and were sentenced by Kegalle High Court Judge Menaka Wijesundara when the case was taken up today.

The judge also stated that their sentence will be extended by another 3 years if they fail to pay the fine.
