UNP nominates Opposition Leaders for Western, Southern PCs

The United National Party (UNP) has nominated Manju Sri Arangala and Tennakoon Nilame as Opposition Leaders for the Western and Southern Provincial Councils respectivly, UNP Spokesman Gayantha Karunathilake said.

Senaka Thennakoon Nilame received the highest number of preference votes for the UNP from the Hambantota District with 28,829 votes in the recently concluded provincial council polls.

Manju Sri Arangala, the former Western Province Opposition Leader and UNP Colombo District leader, received the second highest preference votes for the UNP in the district.

The 45,654 votes obtained by Arangala is second to only S.M. Marikkar, who received 67,243 votes.
