January 23, 2023   08:27 am

The ‘Samudra Devi’ train traveling from Galle to Colombo Fort has derailed near the Kalutara railway station this morning (23), according to the Railway Control Room.

Accordingly, the train derailment has caused delays to trains operating on the coastal line, the Railway Department said.

The train had derailed near the navy camp while traveling towards Colombo while currently trains are only operating on one track on the coastal line due to this.

It said that measures are currently underway to restore train services on the line as immediately as possible.
