
As many as 40 individuals have been injured and hospitalised after a private bus carrying a group of people on an excursion from Nuwara-Eliya to Trincomalee met with an accident in the Toppass area in Labukele, Nuwara-Eliya.
The accident took place at around 5.00 a.m. early this morning (11), the police said.
Police mentioned that the bus had overturned from the upper stretch of the road to the lower stretch in a bend due to the sudden failure of the brakes.
However, 40 out of 41 individuals including the bus driver and the assistant, who were travelling in the bus at the time of the accident, have sustained injuries and were admitted to the Nuwara-Eliya District Hospital, according to police.
