
The second electricity tariff revision of 2024 is likely to take effect from tomorrow (16), the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said.
PUCSL chairman Prof. Manjula Fernando stated that the commission will meet today in order to finalize the percentage of the tariff revision.
As per the government’s policy to revise electricity tariffs quarterly, the first revision of 2024 took place on March 04, 2024, with a 21.9% reduction of the tariffs.
The second revision is set to be announced later today after the PUCSL reviews the proposal submitted by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), analyzes the data, and considers the recently obtained public opinions.
Prof. Fernando further highlighted that the new tariffs will be announced this afternoon and is likely to be implemented from tomorrow (16).
