President has no intention to delay polls - Bandula

The Cabinet Spokesman and Minister of Transport and Highways Bandula Gunawardena states that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has no intention of delaying the Presidential Election, in his recent order to gazette the 22nd Amendment which was withheld by Justice Minister.
Speaking to the media after attending an event held at the Hatton Railway Station, the Minister emphasized that the President has already provided Rs. 10 billion of funds to the Election Commission in order to hold the Presidential Poll.
He also added that accordingly, a President will be elected before October 17 this year, as per the Constitution.
Gunawardena assured that there are no plans to postpone the elections, as certain parties claimed.
