Showers expected in parts of the island

The Department of Meteorology says a few showers will occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere, the department said.
Strong winds about 50-55 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills and in Northern, North-central, North-western, provinces and in Trincomalee, Monaragala and Hambantota districts.
Fairly strong winds about 30-40 kmph can be expected at times elsewhere of the island, it said.
