
The former Director General of the Institute of National Security Studies of Sri Lanka (INSS) Asanka Abeygunasekara, who was arrested this morning (21), has been granted bail after being produced before the court.
Thus, the Negombo Magistrate Rakhitha Abeysinghe has ordered the suspect to be released on two surety bail of Rs 1 million each.
Furthermore, the magistrate ordered Abeygunasekara to appear before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court on August 09, 2024, Ada Derana reporter said.
The former INSS Director General was arrested this morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake upon arrival from overseas. There was a pending open warrant over a case filed by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) against Abeygunasekara, according to police.
