Dilith Jayaweera signs nomination papers for Presidential Election

The leader of Mawbima Janatha Party (MJP), entrepreneur Dilith Jayaweera has signed his nomination papers to contest the upcoming Presidential Election scheduled for September 21. 

 

The signing of the nomination papers was carried out at Mawbima Janatha Party (MJP) head office in Borella.

 

The party leaders of the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ alliance, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, D. E. W. Gunasekera, Wimal Weerawansa, Udaya Gammanpila, Gevindu Kumarathunga were present at the occasion.

 

He will contest the 2024 presidential election from the ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ alliance under the symbol of the ‘Star’.

 

On August 04, executive member of ‘Sarvajana Balaya’ MP Wimal Weerawansa announced Jayaweera as the Presidential Candidate of the alliance during its convention held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.

 

Meanwhile, the security deposit was placed at the Election Commission yesterday (13) for Dilith Jayaweera to contest the upcoming Presidential Election.

 

The Secretary of the Sri Lanka Communist Party Dr. G. Weerasinghe had placed the deposit on behalf of Dilith Jayaweera to contest the presidential poll.
