Sri Lanka bowled out Afghanistan for 198 after tea on Day One of their first-ever Test played at SSC Ground in Colombo on Friday (Feb.02).

A power-packed bowling performance from Sri Lanka has enabled them to bowl Afghanistan out for a below-par total.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Asitha Fernando struck in the very first over to nip Ibrahim Zadran out for a golden duck.

Noor Ali Zadran and Rahmat Shah batted decently and stitched a 50-run stand. The former could not carry on but Rahmat found another able ally in his skipper, Hashmatullah, and the duo stitched another 50-run partnership.

But, a poor shot from the Afghanistan skipper opened things up for Sri Lanka. Nasir Jamal was knocked over by Jayasuriya with an arm ball.

Rahmat was on course to score a century but a terrific anticipation from Samarawickrama led to his downfall.

Alikhil and Qais Ahmad got off to starts but couldn’t convert those into something big.

The Sri Lankan bowlers ran through the tailenders and helped their side close out the innings on a high.

Left-arm seamer Vishwa Fernando claimed four wickets while Asitha Fernando and Prabath Jayasuriya took three each after Sri Lanka put the visitors in to bat.

Sri Lanka Playing XI: Dimuth Karunaratne, Nishan Madushka, Kusal Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva (c), Sadeera Samarawickrama (wk), Chamika Gunasekara, Prabath Jayasuriya, Vishwa Fernando, Asitha Fernando

Afghanistan Playing XI: Ibrahim Zadran, Noor Ali Zadran, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi (c), Nasir Jamal, Ikram Alikhil (wk), Qais Ahmad, Zia-ur-Rehman, Mohammad Saleem, Naveed Zadran, Nijat Masood
