The Singham Again trailer is finally here! Ending fans’ long wait, the team behind the multi-starrer released the trailer on Monday, October 7. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the actioner has a stellar star cast comprising big names like Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Jackie Shroff, Arjun Kapoor, and Tiger Shroff among others. Slated for a Diwali release, Singham Again comes 10 years after Singham Returns. While the trailer has scorched social media, a particular sequence stands out amidst all the car action scenes, gun-trotting cops, and numerous popular faces. And that is when Ajay Devgn’s character visits a temple in Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan Temple Shown In Singham Again Is Unique
In the scene, which comes around 3:22 minutes, we see Ajay Devgn visiting a temple while a female voiceover says that this is the only temple in Sri Lanka where Sita Maa is worshipped. She adds that wherever Lord Hanuman set his foot on this temple ground, we can see the imprints, and the lore goes that this is one among them, as the trailer focuses on a giant footprint on the ground near Sita Maa’s temple. A little research reveals the temple’s name as Seetha Amman Temple, Seetha Eliya Seethai Amman Thirukkovil, or Ashok Vatika Sita Temple, and it exists.
Located in Nuwara Eliya, Central Sri Lanka, the temple has a Tamil architecture style. It is believed that after the abduction, Sita was brought to this location by King Ravana of Lanka. The soil in the temple area is black, which as per the epic of Ramayana, happened because Lord Hanuman charred the area before leaving Sri Lanka. There’s also a stream near the Seetha Amman Temple, where Sita Devi bathed and fulfilled other daily needs.
The Temple Has No Entrance Fee
Roughly 2km southeast of this temple, there’s the Hakgala Botanical Garden, believed to have been created by Ravana for Sita. The garden attracts tourists and believers all year round who visit there to honour her patience and endurance.
There is no fee to visit the temple but if one wants to take part in a puja or service, they must purchase a ticket for around100–200 Sri Lankan Rupees. Puja timing is from 8am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6.30pm.
Singham Again is set to hit cinema halls on November 1, 2024.
