Person shot dead in Grandpass

A person in a three-wheeler has been shot dead in the Madampitiya area of Grandpass, Colombo the police said.
Police Media Spokesperson DIG Nihal Thalduwa stated that the assailants who arrived the scene in a car had opened fire at the 35-year-old at around 3.00 p.m. this evening (16).
The incident took place near a cemetery in Madampitiya, according to police.
Police mentioned that the deceased, identified as a resident of the Mihijaya Sewana area, had been travelling in the back seat of the three-wheeler, at the time of the shooting.
It has been uncovered during the preliminary investigations that the assailants had carried out the shooting using a pistol.
Grandpass Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
