As Christians across Sri Lanka and around the world observe Easter Sunday, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya extended her heartfelt wishes to the Christian community, highlighting the season as one of spiritual renewal, compassion, and shared humanity.
In her Easter message, the Prime Minister reflected on the enduring values of faith, love, and resilience that define the Easter celebration, and expressed her sincere hope that the occasion brings peace and strength to all Sri Lankan families.
Dr. Amarasuriya also paid solemn tribute to the victims of the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks, acknowledging the pain that continues to affect many Sri Lankans.
“Today, four years later, the pain remains, and so does our responsibility. We stand in solidarity with the families of the victims, with the Christian community, and with all citizens who continue to seek truth and justice.”
She reaffirmed the government’s dedication to justice and transparency, assuring that the pursuit of truth remains a top national priority.
“As a government, we reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that justice is served. Ongoing efforts to investigate the attacks and uncover all truths without obstruction or delay, remain a top priority,” she said.
The Prime Minister concluded her message by urging unity and collective responsibility, emphasizing that a just and equal future is a goal all Sri Lankans must work toward together.
