Notebook was ‘not detached’, says former Magistrate

The former Colombo Chief Magistrate Champa Janaki Rajarathna today told the High Court that when she received the note book of Frederica Jansz, which contained the ‘white flag’ statement allegedly made by Sarath Fonseka, it was as a single book.


Giving evidence at court today (January 12) Rajarathna expressed that the note book was handed over to court by the Sunday Leader Editor, Frederica Jansz on June 21, 2010.


Even thought the book in question was severed into two, the former Chief Magistrate who examined the notebook before the court today stated that it had been as a single book when she had accepted it.


The notebook contained 89 pages including empty pages, Champa Janaki Rajarathna further added.
