West Indies down England in T20 World Cup 2026

West Indies spinners choked England in their second ICC T20 World Cup 2026 match at the Wankhede Stadium on 11 February.

Chasing 197, the two-time world champions were restricted to 166 in 19 overs. Gudakesh Motie (3 wickets), Roston Chase (2 wickets) and Akeal Hosein (1 wicket) kept the rivals on the back foot.

Jacob Bethell (33), Phil Salt (30), and Jos Buttler (21) were among the runs, but none of them went on to post a big total. Sam Curran was superb, scoring an unbeaten 43 runs off 30 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Earlier, the West Indies lost two wickets for 8 runs, with openers Shai Hope (0) and Brandon King (1) found wanting with the bat.

Roston Chase (34) and Shimron Hetmyer (23) added 47 runs for the third wicket, but the two were dismissed in a span of a few overs, with the score reading 77 for 4.

However, Sherfane Rutherford played one of the best knocks of his T20I career, accumulating an unbeaten 76 runs off 42 balls, laced with 7 sixes and 2 fours.

Former captain Jason Holder also played an impactful innings, managing 33 runs in 17 balls, laced with 4 maximums and 1 fifty as the West Indies reached 196/6.

Adil Rashid and Jamie Overton dismissed two batters each. With their win, the West Indies have four points from two games, while England are on 2 points from two contests in Group C.
