Club Rugby:  Sri Lanka Air Force crowned Plate champions

Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club was crowned Plate champions of the 2025/26 Inter-Club Rugby League season after defeating Sri Lanka Police Sports Club 24-12 in the plate final played at the Ratmalana Air Force grounds this evening (20).
 
Air Force SC, who were the favourites to clinch the plate title after the super round fixtures, were the better side from the very outset this evening.
 
Led by Sharaka Weralla, Sri Lanka Air Force went on to score two goals and two tries including one from their overseas recruit Afasua Yaovasa. Police SC on the other hand managed a goal and a try to finish runners-up in the plate category.
 
Air Force led 07-05 at lemons.
 
Meanwhile, all roads will lead to Longdon Place tomorrow, where CR & FC will take on defending Champions Kandy Sports Club in the Cup final of the 2025/26 Inter-Club Rugby League Cup season.
 
The blockbuster final is scheduled to kick-off at 7:00 p.m. under floodlights.
 
The Reds led by Lasindu Karunathilaka finished on top of the league table after the super round fixtures with 53 points while Kandy SC was placed second with 52 points.
 
CR also edged past Kandy in the final super round game played at Longdon Place last week by 17-15. 
 
CR & FC will enter tomorrow’s 2025/26 Inter-Club Rugby League Final as favorites playing at home in front of an expected capacity crowd.
