Sri Lanka lost to England by 51 runs in a one-sided Super Eight round contest of the T20 World Cup at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy.
England continued their dominance over Sri Lanka in the T20Is after bundling the Sri Lankans out for 95 in 16.4 overs. Only four batters managed two figures scores with skipper Dasun Shanaka making 30 off 24 deliveries.
Will Jacks took three wickets while Jofra Archer dismissed two batters. Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid also got rid of two batters each.
Earlier, Sri Lankan bowlers managed to restrict the formidable England batting lineup to 146/9 in 20 overs.
Dunith Wellalage spearheaded the bowling picking up 3/26.
Maheesh Theekshana and Dilshan Madushanka picked up two wickets apiece while Dushmantha Chameera took one scalp.
For England, opener Phil Salt scored a 40-ball 62 but the rest of the batters faltered before the Sri Lankan bowling lineup.
Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and elected to bowl first.
Sri Lanka will next meet New Zealand on Wednesday at the R Premadasa International Stadium in Colombo.
