David Miller, Dewald Brevis lift South Africa to 187/7 in Super 8 match against India

Indian managed to pull things back a bit after David Miller and Dewald Brevis almost put them out of the game in the Super 8 match against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium on 22 February.

India started brilliantly with Jasprit Bumrah dismissing Quinton de Kock (6) and Ryan Rickelton (7). Arshdeep Singh sent back captain Aiden Markram (4), with the Proteas 20 for 3 at one stage.

However, Miller and Brevis went after the bowlers and didn’t allow the spinners to settle down, hitting boundaries in every over.

Miller faced 35 deliveries to post 63 runs, laced with 7 fours and 3 sixes. On the other hand, Brevis managed 45 runs in 29 balls, with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes.

The two added 97 runs for the fourth wicket to put South Africa in control. However, their dismissals gave India a chance to stop the run flow in the death overs.

Shivam Dube undid Brevis while Varun Chakravarthy ended Miller’s knock. Arshdeep was recalled to bowl the 18th over, and he added Marco Jansen’s scalp to his bowling figures.

Bumrah’s third wicket of the day came in the form of Corbin Bosch, who was caught and bowled by the speedster.

Tristan Stubbs stayed till the end to take the score to 187/7. He accumulated 44 runs off 24 balls, including 3 sixes and 1 four. He smashed the 20th over, bowled by Hardik Pandya, for 20 runs.

Bumrah (3 wickets) and Arshdeep (2 wickets) were the pick of the bowlers for the Indian National Cricket Team. Varun and Dube picked up 1 wicket each.
