The Court of Appeals today (February 28) fixed the dates to take up the petitions filed against the rejection of nomination papers presented for the Local Government election.
A report stating the reasons that affected the decision to reject the nominations was presented by the Elections Commissioner to court when the petitions were taken up for hearing today.
The rejections were based on 11 categories of complaints submitted in regard to infringement of election laws, the Deputy Solicitor General (DSG) Shavendra Fernando said providing information to court.
A report containing a classification in this regard has been presented to court, the DSG informed and also requested the court to look into these violations of laws and provide a suitable verdict.
Subsequently the Appeal Court ordered that all the concerning petitions will be taken up on March 08, 21, 22, 23, 28 and 29 dates.
