The three member judge bench of the Colombo High Court has decided to call defense witnesses of the court case regarding the ‘White Flag’ statement by Sarath Fonseka.

The Deputy Solicitor General Buwaneka Aluwihare on a previous date had announced that the evidence hearing of plaintiff’s witnesses will be finished.

Therefore the attorneys representing Fonseka stated at court today (February 28) that they wish to call witnesses for the defendant.

A list of witnesses that will give evidence for the defendant will be presented to court on a future date, they had also informed.

The three member judge bench then postponed the hearing to March 09 and ordered the defense attorneys to produce the list of witnesses on that date.

Meanwhile the High Court judge bench criticized prison officials for not implementing the orders previously issued by the court, instructing them to provide the former Army Commander with hot water facility.

Prison officials had then stated that the officers had been informed of the court’s instruction however so far approval has not been received in regard.

There is no need of approval from higher officials to execute a court directive, the judge bench had stated at that moment and also ordered the prison officials to provide Sarath Fonseka with hot water facilities without delay.
