The eleven stranded fishermen from Myanmar who were rescued by a group of Sri Lankan fishermen were brought to the Trincomalee Harbour today (April 16) morning, the Sri Lanka Navy stated.

The injured fishermen have been admitted to the Trincomalee Navy Hospital for treatment, Navy Spokesman Kosala Warnakulasuriya stated.

After the Navy were informed of the stranded fishermen by a Sri Lankan fishing vessel, the Navy had instructed them to be brought to the Trinco harbour in view of their location and health conditions.

The Myanmar Embassy has been informed about the fishermen who are now being treated in the Navy hospital while further measures will be taken regarding the incident through the Embassy, the Spokesman added.
