ASP caught taking a bribe of Rs.1 mil

An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) has been arrested by the Bribery Commission while he was accepting a bribe of Rs.1 million. 

That the police officer in question had reportedly asked for the bribe to act favorably to a group, in dispute with another group over a welfare center in Maharagama.

The ASP was apprehended while soliciting the said bribe in front of the Wijerama Temple in Maharagama, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption stated. 

The arrested police officer is reportedly the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in charge of Nugegoda Division, Nihal Mendis.
