UPDATE: CEB issues power cut schedule

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) today issued the power cut schedule, depicting the time period and areas experiencing the power outage starting from tomorrow (24). 

Power cuts lasting for 2h and 15m will be imposed between 8.30am and 5.30pm while 45m power cuts will be imposed between 6.30pm and 9.30 in several parts of the island.

Starting from tomorrow the power cuts will continue at least until July 28, says the CEB Chairman Prof. Wimaladharma Abeywickrama.

Hence the power supply will be suspended tomorrow under 4 categories, namely 8.30 - 10.45am, 10.45am - 1.00pm, 1.00 - 3.15 pm and 3.15 - 5.30pm.

Power cuts will be imposed in following areas:

Anuradhapura, Habarana, Vavuniya, Thulhiriya, Bolawatta, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Chilaw, Madampe, Ampara, Trincomalee, Biyagama, Katunayake, Kosgama, Kelaniya, Aniyakanda, Veyangoda, Aturugiriya, Pannipitiya, Avissawella, Embilipitiya, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Rantambe, Ambalangoda, Deniyaya, Galle, Matara, Mathugama, Panadura, Kiribathkumbura, Ukuwela, Wimalasurendra, Hambantota, Beliatta, Ratmalana areas and nearby villages.

Power cuts in Colombo will be imposed from 8.30am - 10.45am in following areas:

Galle Face, Janadhipathi Mawatha, Vauxhall Street, Dickman’s Road, Independence Avenue, Jawatta , Torrington Avenue, Horton Place, Rosemead Place, Borella, Kota Road, Barnes Place, Ward Place, Town Hall, Dam Street, Sugathadasa Stadium, Grandpass and areas surrounding Premadasa Stadium.

10.45am - 1.00pm in following areas:

Empire City, Bambalapitiya Flats, Havelock Road, Kirulapana, Mayura Place, Gothami Road, Ananda Rajakaruna Mawatha, Maligawatta, Sangaraja Mawatha, Jethawana Road, St. John Street, Ketawalamulla, Messenger Street and surrounding areas.

1.00pm – 3.15pm in following areas:

York Street, 1st and 2nd Cross Street, Chatham Street, Sir Baron Jayatilaka Mawatha, part of Galle Face, Union Place, Darmapala Mawatha, Liberty Plaza, Kolpetty Market Complex, Bambalapitiya, Elvitigala Mawatha, Ananda Kumaraswamy Mawatha, Punchi Borella, Dematagoda, Baseline Road, Bodhiraja Mawatha, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Mawatha, Technical Junction and Port areas.

3.15 pm - 5.30 pm in following areas:

Crescat Residencies, NDB Bank Complex, Nawam Mawatha, Havalock City Housing Complex, Wellawatta and suburbs, Albert Crescent, Cambridge Place, Sir Marcus Fernando Mawatha, Wijerama Road, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Wanathamulla, Manin Market Complex, Olcott Mawatha, Pettah, Kotahena, Alwis Place and suburbs. 

Power cuts lasting 45 minutes from  6.30 - 7.15pm, 7.15 - 8.00pm, 8.00 - 8.45pm and 8.45 - 9.30 pm will be imposed respectively in those categories.
