An office assistant of the Bandarawela Municipal Council has been arrested for abducting a 22-year-old female, an office trainee at the municipal council, and molesting her while unlawfully detaining her for three days.
The woman in question had reportedly traveled home after work on Thursday in the suspect’s three-wheeler accompanied by several other workers.
However, after the other passengers had disembarked, the suspect who had promised to drop her off at home, instead forcefully took her to a different location where he detained and molested her.
She was dropped off near her home only yesterday (05) morning, the victim’s parents said.
She is currently receiving treatment at the Diyathalawa Hospital for massive blood loss.
The victim’s relatives have informed police that other Municipal Council workers had aided the suspect in abducting her.
Bandarawela Police stated that the office assistant in question has been arrested and that he is being interrogated.
