
The police constable attached to the Monaragala Police who is suspected of slashing the throat of his police constable girlfriend, is alleged to have applied for leave citing his mother’s illness before arriving in Colombo.
A woman police constable was murdered at around 7.20am today near the Lotus Road flyover in Colombo Fort.
Her boyfriend who is suspected of carrying out the murder is receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the Colombo national Hospital due to consuming poison.
The victim is a 26-year-old constable attached to the Sports Unit of the Police Headquarters and is a resident of Nannapurawa, Bibila.
The suspect, attached to the Monaragala Police Sation, is resident of Walapane.
Police believe a dispute between the two officers who were in a relationship may have led to the murder and suicide attempt.
