
The Working Committee of the United National Party will meet on January 21 to decide on action to be taken regarding its parliamentarians who voted in favor of the impeachment motion last week.
UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake stated that an attorney board is already looking into the matter.
He stated that initial preparations are being made to take legal action against the MPs who entered parliament by contesting under the UNP and voted in favor of the impeachment motion.
Several MPs including Lakshman Seneviratne, Earl Gunasekara who crossed over to the government after contesting under the UNP ticket had voted for the impeachment motion against Dr. Shirani Bandaranayakae which was passed with a two thirds majority last week.
