9 arrested for robbing houses claiming to be the police

The Special Crimes Operation Unit of Mirihana has arrested 9 people suspected of robbing from houses claiming that they were police officers.
The police stated that they were able to make this arrest after a complaint about Rs. 3 lakhs worth of jewelry and money being robbed from a house in Padukka.
The suspects were arrested hiding in a house in Nawagamuwa. The police stated that they were able to gather information on robberies in Kadawatha, Grandpass, Dehivala, Wattala and Wellampitiya after questioning. The suspects had stolen items and a locally manufactured weapon in their possession.
The police stated that they will be detaining the suspects and carrying out investigations.
