4,100 hectares of paddy fields damaged by floods

Floods caused due to the adverse weather conditions which had prevailed in past several days had damaged over 4,100 hectares of paddy fields in the Puttalam District.
The Puttalam District zonal agriculture office stated that 2,077 hectares of rice crops in Madampe, 631 hectares in Puttalam and 1,421 hectares in Anamaduwa.
Therefore this harvest season is expected to lose an estimated 16,438 metric tons of paddy from the Puttalam District, Ada Derana reporter said.
In addition to this lands used for cultivating vegetable, fruit, spices and other have also been destroyed in the district.
