A team of surgeons at the Karapitiya Hospital have successfully removed a javelin which had punctured the foot of a student during a school sports meet in Thalalla North.
Doctors said they were able to remove the javelin through surgery after the female student was immediately rushed to hospital.
The student is currently receiving treatment at the Karapitiya Hospital.
