An officer of the Bandarawela Police has been arrested by the Bribery Commission for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 1,500 to avoid taking action against a person caught dumping garbage on the road.
The constable, attached to the police station’s Environment Police Unit (EPU) was arrested while accepting the bribe from a resident of the Punagala area in Bandarawela.
