
A millionaire businessman from India has been arrested by customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport, when he had attempted to board a flight to Dubai with US$ 28,000 (over 3.5 million rupees) in cash.
The Indian national had claimed that he had won the money from gambling at a casino.
However, the foreign currency was confiscated and the businessman was allowed to leave the country after paying a fine of Rs. 100,000, Airport Customs Superintendent G G Premasiri said.
