
Indian security forces arrested 22 persons protesting President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s visit to India near the Puduchcheri train station.
The protesters had lined up across the railway tracks halting train services in the area while shouting slogans against the Indian central government in protest of the Sri Lankan President’s visit.
India media reported that the protesters demanded that the Tamil community in Sri Lanka be given a political solution by the government.
Meanwhile, a further 34 persons were arrested for participating in a protest in the Thirupathi area as well.
