The two police officers who fell victim to an acid attack when they attempted to apprehend a suspect in the Dedigama area have been transferred to the Colombo Eye Hospital for further treatment.
Three police officers were admitted to the Kegalle Hospital on Saturday (09) after a woman threw acid at them when they had proceeded to arrest her husband, allegedly involved in around 20 crimes including theft.
It has been reported that two of the victims, who had suffered critical injuries as the acid had come into contact with their eyes, were transferred to the Colombo Eye Hospital.
Senior DIG Lalith Jayasinghe stated that the two officers will even be flown abroad for treatment if the need arises.
The incident occurred at around 7.00am on February 09 when police had attempted to arrest the suspect at his residence in Upper Lenagala, Dedigama.
The suspect was taken into custody inside a room of his house while his wife was also arrested for throwing acid at the police officers.
