The body of a police officer who went missing during an arrest was found in a well in the Puwakpitiya area in Habarana this morning (February 13), police stated.
The police officer went missing while carrying out an arrest warrant issued against a suspect in the area.
A team of police officers attached to the Habarana police division had conducted a raid to arrest a suspect against whom a warrant had been issued when the suspect had fled the scene. One police officer chased after the suspect following which both parties had gone missing, police stated.
In the ensuing search operation, police found the missing police constable’s body in a well. The victim was a resident of the Galenbindunuwewa area.
The suspect has yet not been apprehended, police further stated.
