Landslide warnings in the Nuwara Eliya District

A landslide warning has been issued for the Welimada road in the Haggala area in Nuwara Eliya, District Secretary D.P.G. Kumarasiri stated after a landslide occurred yesterday (February 13) in the same area.

 

He further advised that drivers traveling in the Nuwara Eliya area to be vigilant as rockslides could occur in several areas within the District as well.

 

Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Center stated that several reservoirs could flood as a result of the weather conditions including Weheragala, Bowatenna, Parakrama Samudraya, Minneriya, Kawudulla and Kukule Ganga where sluice gates have been opened.
