
Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake arrested two persons who attempted to smuggle out a quantity of foreign currency worth around Rs 6.4 million beneath their underwear.
The suspects were preparing to board a flight to New Delhi when custom officer had detected suspicious behavior and decided to search them.
Foreign currency – mostly Euros and Swiss francs- worth around 6.4 million rupees were discovered concealed beneath their underwear.
Airport customs are conducting investigations into the suspects, who are residents of Colombo.
