
Thirteen suspects including Minister Maithripala Sirisena’s son have been released on police bail after the alleged assault on a high-ranking police officer’s son.
The son of DIG Ravi Waidyalankara, Asela Waidyalankara has been admitted to the Batticaloa Hospital after he was allegedly assaulted by a group at the beach near a hotel in Passikudah.
The victim and his mother were reportedly bathing in the sea when a group had allegedly videoed them. The DIG’s son attempted to question them when the clash had taken place.
Kalkuda Police had conducted investigations into the incident which took place last evening and arrested 13 suspects, who were later released on police bail.
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena’s son, Daham Tharaka was among the 13 persons arrested, police said.
